As I was walking down the bluff to feed my horses one morning recently, I caught a glimpse of something shiny way back under a low hanging juniper in a deer bed. I debated for a minute if I should crawl through the brush and into the deer bed. But, I got down on all fours and made my way into the deer bed and unearthed the rest of the shiny object. Low and behold, it was my lost spinner that I had given up all hopes of ever seeing again. I grabbed it and held it tightly to my chest and cried out loud, “I found you! I found you! I thought you were lost forever.” I then scrambled back through the brush and up to the house yelling to no one in particular “The lost spinner is found!” And then it dawned on me (meaning the Holy Spirit illuminated to me) that Jesus talked about the lost spinners. How the lost spinner managed to end up at the bottom of a bluff in a deer bed I do not know. But, one thing I do know is that there was greater joy that day over that one lost spinner that I thought was irretrievably lost, and now was found! I let all the cabins in heaven know about it. Luke 15:4-24
Who do I know, or, maybe it is me who has spun out of control and ended up at the base of a bluff, feeling lost forever. As God’s family and as “parents” we all look for and welcome home the lost spinners.
