The Answer is Yes. It is often both a truth and a trick. Our enemy the devil, loves to take a truth and then twist it so that we fall for it. This is a trick. This becomes a snare for us when we believe the twisted truth and act on it. The very first Truth and trick happened in the Garden of Eden. We are given the story in Gen.3 .. We are all familiar with the story. What we tend to forget is that that same scenario is being played out over and over in our times and in each of our lives.
I will highlight some of these tricks as they have appeared and continue to appear in my life. Satan is the master deceiver. His delight is in deceiving and then permanently enslaving those he has tricked. Deceit has an element of truth in it and scripture is often quoted. However it is not the Whole truth and nothing but the truth. This truth is usually brought through someone or a source we have some confidence in. Sometimes I twist the truth myself in order to justify my actions.
And how does the enslavement happen.? Sometimes it is physical through drugs, addictions, culture, pride, trauma, law, guilt, my relational maturity level, or perhaps I have built my whole life style around the trick …. Satan will pretty much use anything that he knows I am susceptible to and that he can use as a trap for me.
In this trick or truth #7 we look at the belief held by many that; “All scripture is revealed in our written word that is recorded for us in the 66 books of the Bible. There is no new continuing revelatory word being spoken to us today.” Now, it is true that all scripture in our Bible is inspired and profitable for us to study and the Holy Spirit illuminates specifics and concepts as we encounter issues in our lives that call for an answer.
However, not all was revealed to us while Jesus was on earth. Before He left He made it very clear that there was more truth and revelation to come as we see in John16:7,12-14: “But I tell you the truth, that it is for your good that I am going away; The Counselor will not come to you; but, if I go I will send Him to you…… I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when He the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own. He will speak only what he hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to Me by taking what is Mine and making it know to you.”
And how exactly do we hear the Holy Spirit as to how it all effects our times and the season we are living in? We are now close to 2000 years since Jesus spoke these words to us as recorded in our written scriptures. Obviously it is not by more written scriptures …. Sooo ,,, it is actually comes through Godly prophets and the rhema word or spoken word. There have always been a few Godly prophets who have heard from the Holy Spirit and have spoken to us. Currently who do you know or hears from the Holy Spirit and who actually broadcasts these prophecies??
One site I listen to is ElijahStreams … This site broadcasts several current prophets. NOTE; A word of caution. Prophetic words will never go against what is written in our written scriptures. As is said in the written scriptures; “He will guide you into all truth. … He will tell you what is yet to come.”
