Part 2 of 3
I enjoy some of the intriguing scriptures that I read. I spend time meditating on them, trying to place them in my thought patterns and processes, and make the truths a part of my ways. In order to more fully understand a scripture, I need to at least have a glimpse of what God’s view is of the situation. We call this God-sight. This in no way implies that we have the total picture of God’s thinking as we do not have the capacity to do that. However we can at least get a glimpse (seeing through a glass darkly) of what is on God’s mind.
Here, we are looking at a scripture that most of us are familiar with: Mark7:45-55 Jesus sent his disciples ahead of Him across the lake to a remote place for rest. Late at night the disciples were in trouble rowing their boat against the wind and waves of the lake. From two of the most obvious clues in the scripture, we will rebuild the account from God’s perspective. Since scripture is alive it always has at least 2 meanings. The 2 clues given us are in Part 1 question 6 ; What did Mark mean when he noted that the disciples did not yet understand because their hearts were hardened? …. And in Part 1 question 3 ; What was significant about Jesus saying; “Don’t be afraid, take courage, I Am here.”
We now start the whole narrative over in a short version form: (God thinking) .... “Jesus’ disciples are so used to operating out of what they physically comprehend that they need to be jolted into My reality in the physically unseen. They just saw Jesus feed 5000 plus with a few loaves and fish that appeared from My realm. I will amp it up and we will have a little storm encounter with Jesus walking on water. That should blow their earthly hardened minds. (Along with everyone else who is going to hear this later). I will let them strain trying to do things their earthly way and then I will reintroduce Myself as I did a few years ago when I came to earth as an Infant. “Joy to the world, I am so glad to be here with you! As your King, everything is under My control! and Jesus will repeat to His disciples ” Have no fear, I Am here, I am glad to be with you in the same boat and storm that you are in. And as I enter the boat with you everything calms down. My Son does such a great job! They will eventually understand and so will everyone else who will hear this with their spiritual ear later on.”
Back to earth now…… My mind keeps going… Just before this whole episode, Jesus went to talk with His Father in the dark ….. Somehow, I imagine that They rehearsed the whole thing and the extreme significance and importance of it…. This was the springboard for the disciples starting to “see and do” in the unseen realm of God’s Spirit. ……
