Admonish only those who have forgotten what they are able to put in practice. Weakness is real. Carry burdens for those who cannot carry their burden that day. Constantly encourage the fainthearted.
I have horses and often it seems like the horses have me ….. but, I like it that way! I have young people, often troubled young people who love horses and come to be with and around the horses and the lady who trains the horses. They want to be here and learn and “help” ….. I like it that way too! It fits the identity I have in the way God created me.
I have learned that a young person will be brilliant in their help and riding one day, and then appear to have left the left side of their brain in bed the next morning. After gently attuning to the anxious youth, we both discover where that part of their brain is, because the right side of their brain tells us where the anxiety lies. We then figure out the capability and capacity of the hour they are in.
Now, the goal of the hour isn’t to ride the horse or have a clean stall, or a shiny saddle, but to experience tenderness and a gentle return to joy. Meanwhile the horse says nothing and is enjoying a lot of repeated grooming.
Be very patient with everyone…… Do everything in love. …..
