Where is Jesus leading me? When I come alive in my spirit, where am I heading? Is there instant arrival?
I am on the journey of life. I am on this planet called earth and as my spirit comes alive, I am on my way through life headed for the eternity of heaven. I am not mature nor alone as I am on this journey. My partner for life is Jesus, who goes with me through everything.
On this journey, I receive glimpses and promises of people and places that will bring me peace and a state of rest. This matches who I am and the real desires of my true self. However, I may not enter that place or connect with the person that Jesus leads me to because I am stubborn and it all isn’t what I had pictured in my mind. Most likely I am also a relational infant and child who doesn’t want to wait to receive my promises. Most relational children miss their promises because it doesn’t happen now. The scriptures in Hebrews Chapter 3 and 4 talk about this.
“They will never enter the land where I would have given them rest! He said this even though His work (to fulfill the promise) had been finished from the time He created the world. …. So, If you hear God’s voice today, do not be stubborn. …. Those who first heard the good news and the promises did not receive that rest (and peaceful state), because they did not believe (or wait for the promise). …. Let us, then, do our best to receive that rest, so that not one of us will fail as they did because of their lack of faith.”
I need to remember that I must go through testing times and times of maturing and periods of waiting for others to mature, BEFORE I receive the full promise and the resulting peace and rest. It is way easier to do this as a relationally mature parent with some God-sight!
