If I am going to play beautiful music I need to practice. If I am going to play beautiful music in harmony with you, I have to practice my keys and then I need to assist you in learning to play music, often from the basic “stepping up, stepping down, then a skip”. It is exciting as you mature and now we can play together; You play the top keys while I play the bottom keys. We are actually harmonizing!!
The Key I am practicing is: Being a Relationally Mature Parent …..
As a relationally mature parent, I am a parent to all those in my family. Those who are 2 years old and those who are 20 years old or 50 years old. Any place that I see a hole in their maturity, I demonstrate how to be mature and fill the void that is in the other family member’s relationship skills. They are watching me to see how I handle all of life.
As I think about my family and those needing a parent in their life; How am I currently showing them maturity skills. When someone is mad …… when someone is sad …… when someone is afraid …… when someone is ashamed ….. when someone is feeling hopeless despair ……
I will now show the person what it is like me to do when I feel sad or ….. How I calm myself, ….. see it how God sees it….. and then speak God’s perspective. “Whenever I am sad I recognize and feel the loss. Jesus is feeling it too …… And He is with me in my sadness … and He will always be with me ….. ”
Practice the key of being a Parent ….. to everyone around me who needs a parent ……
It is interesting to note that God calls us His children. He is our Parent.
