My emotions are my primary motivator. The world primarily runs on the emotion of fear, and that leads to many destructive activities and ways of living. Fear motives creep into my life as I fail to mature properly. I have learned my motivation during infancy through bonded relationships with my parents. Whatever emotions my “parents” used to motivate me became my internal source of motivation for my life. I am blessed when these early bonds formed in me came from love and closeness. However, if these bonds formed in me came from fear and the avoidance of pain, my motivational system stays immature. I remain as an “Infant” and “Child”.
When I am living out of fear and the avoidance of pain, I say things like; “What if he gets mad?” “Are you going to be upset?” “I’m afraid that ……… ” “I’d be too embarrassed!” “You really tick me off!” “I have to make it stop.” I can’t stand it when……..” “I’m out of here.” “I’ve got to prepare for the worst.” “Who cares?” “What difference will it make?”
As I mature and am motivated out of the emotion of love, I actually connect with a Real Person who is Love. Fear is a liar because it is an illusion. Fear does not come from God. Knowing Jesus, Who is Love, casts out the illusion and the emotion of fear goes back into its’ proper place.
This is a huge topic as it impacts the entire world we live in. For more teaching on this go to Teachings … Fear and Love Bonds.
