God has designed our entire life on this planet as transitory. Nothing is permanent, although we try to make it that way. Especially as relational adults, we see a physical kingdom here on earth and we spend most all of our working years DOING and attempting to set up the kingdom we envision. We attempt to secure our earthly kingdom by setting up perpetual trusts, preserves, reserves, sources of income, indestructible structures and organizations. We set up administrative structure that revolve around our children and relatives …… As much as we would like it to last forever, we know that it won’t ….. It all will eventually be dust to dust and ashes to ashes and all my treasures end up in the trashes or are destroyed by pack-rats.
So, who am I and what am I supposed to be doing here on this planet? Those who don’t know God and are lost in their way of life, attempt to numb the pain and just party for the day. Those of us who know God and have His Spirit living within us, eventually realize as we mature that I am here on this earth on assignment.
We are all sent by God; here on assignment, in this place, in this family, with these people, for such a time as this. …. Jesus came on assignment …. Angels are here on assignment …. I am on assignment as an infant, as a child, as an adult, as a spouse, as a parent, as an elder ….
Since I am here on assignment; ….. What is this assignment about? …… And what am I to accomplish? …….
It is all relational …… It is not transitory, but a permanent relational connection ….. It’s not about what I build or do; ….. It’s about how I connect to my Creator and Jesus who goes through all of life and beyond with me …… It’s about how I permanently connect with all of God’s children .…. This planet is God’s place of connection and His training ground for eternal relational connections!
“Again, Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you!’ ‘As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you’ (on assignment)! John20:21
