“He will command His angels in regard to you, to protect and defend and guard you in all your ways of obedience and service.” Ps.91:9-16
One of the very important truths that I learned from my father is that if I am obeying the Lord in whatever manner it is that He is directing me, I don’t need to worry about the dangers or difficulties involved. When I am on a service mission (being His servant), He has me covered. His mission that He has sent me on will be accomplished, no matter how difficult or dangerous it may appear to me with my natural eyes.
I share with you here one short story of me seeing this in action: When I was a boy, I went with my father to this hostile community in the Andes Mountains to deliver needed medical supplies and bibles and food to one of God’s servants in the community. We went despite the fact that some men had threatened to kill my dad if he should ever enter the village. It was a narrow little one track road along the mountain side. We made it to the village and delivered the needed supplies. It was getting dark as we headed back down the one track road. As we came around a bend, there were some big rocks in the tracks of the road …. Before my dad could stop me, I jumped out of the jeep and managed to push the rocks out of the tracks so we could pass by. As I jumped back into the jeep we started on down the road and my dad said “someone placed those rocks there. They weren’t there before. God is protecting us.”
We later found out that some men were waiting in ambush to kill my dad, but what they “saw” when we arrived at the rocks they had placed in the road, were two huge heavily armed “men” standing on the back of the jeep. The word got out in the community and my dad was never threatened there again.
This is just one of the stories that I saw first hand of God’s protective hand over my parents and me as a part of the family. Because my parents were sent by God to be missionaries in a very hostile environment. They understood that they (we) were covered. My dad would say; “We are covered by His angels as long as we are in His service. His missions do not fail.”
I look at myself today …… God has called me …… I am obeying Him ….. I am on assignment from Him ….. I am and will be covered by His angels ….. No need to fear, so I walk boldly in what He daily directs me …… I am covered until my “day” is done and He calls me home!!
