Did you ever wonder where Adam and Eve went to the bathroom? Or did they even go? Did God have a waste management system in place for them to follow while in the “perfect garden”?
I just finished cleaning out the horse stalls and the corral. For days, I shoveled piles of horse poop in various stages of decay. It took me using a manure fork for the fresh poop, scooping shovels for the dry and dusty crumbles and biscuits, and tractors with horse power to clean to the bottom of all the compacted layers that had accumulated over the winter. I now have a large pile of decaying horse poop out in the garden prep area. People come and pay good money every year to purchase the “best” of the decomposed horse poop.
I have young people of all ages who come and “work” with me in all this mess. It is interesting for me to observe their maturity levels. The “infants” wander in and out and are fascinated by the lizards doing push ups. The “children“ see all the mess as mostly overwhelming with the best way for me to be is on that tractor. If I just had the right shovel or the right tractor I could clean it out. The “adults” make deals with each other and often take turns cleaning out the corners or scooping the hard s… They see a clean barn with clean stalls. The “parents” see the whole process as the perfect learning and training setting for teaching the values of hard work and working together and the pride of accomplishment and the value of all the poop in the gardens later (they are the ones who come and buy it later).
And what do I see? …… HORSES !!!! ……. I just picked up some beautiful horses who are awaiting me to finish this writing and go down and feed them some fresh orchard grass hay! …… And the new poop cycle begins again ….
Does God see me as a hopeless pile of crap? Does He see me as an endless mess maker that He is tired of dealing with? Does He see me as having no clue as to what it takes to keep His house clean and in proper order? Does He see me as continually trying to make deals with Him that I never end up keeping? Is He ready to throw me onto the pile of poop? ……. Noooo …… God looks at my heart! God sees me as His perfect creation that He made and loves!! Yes, I do need dusted off and a good shower every now and then, and I do need to grow up and put away childish things. Grandma (my elder) used to say; “Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.”
There are no Horses and there are no People without poop. ….. Even in the “perfect” Garden of Eden!
