WAYS TO HEAR AND SEE WHAT GOD IS SAYING TO ME
A scripture or saying grabs my attention; Hmm, God has something here for me.
I look for the “Ifs” of scripture and promises; “ If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their land.” Most promises have conditions.
When possible I read the passage backwards; “I will hear my people when they humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways, and then pray.”
I ask probing questions; “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” … Are there things or people that I allow in my life who separate me from God’s love or from me loving God? Or, from me loving other people?
I check word variations, phrases or sayings; “The good, the bad, and the ugly” Good= kind, gentle, godly … Bad= mean, devious, evil … Ugly= unrefined, doesn’t meet my standards, something I don’t want to be around …
The key to hearing is how it is speaking to me. I will generally hear what’s being spoken to me at my relational maturity level.
